10 award-winning wines from the 2023 edition of SMV featured on SAQ.com

With a continued commitment to creating business opportunities for its participating producers, the Sélections Mondiales des Vins (SMV) competition has entered into a promotional agreement with the SAQ. This agreement aims to showcase on the SAQ.com website products already listed in its inventory and recipients of a Grand Gold or Gold medal during the 2023 edition. Note that over 125 listed wines received recognition last year.

Among those receiving top scores and matching specific profiles, 10 products were featured on SAQ.com from March 28th to March 31st, 2024. This represents exceptional visibility among Quebec consumers, thus reinforcing SMV’s position locally and internationally.


Domaine Cibadiès Chardonnay Pays d’Oc

Les Vignobles Bonfils - France​

From its vantage point, Domaine de Cibadiès overlooks the valley of the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once a Roman and then Cathar territory, Vignobles Bonfils are established on the heights of this hill, surrounded by a grove of pine trees. This wall delineates the vineyard to the south and forms the famous barrier against storms.

Beautiful straw yellow color with green reflections. Complex and very intense nose where citrus, peach, apricot, and dried fruit flavors are complemented by vanilla and floral notes. The palate proves to be ample and harmonious, with plenty of roundness, richness, and volume.

Barone Ricasoli Rocca Guicciarda
Chianti Classico Riserva 2020

Barone Ricasoli - Italy​

Made from 90% Sangiovese, with a touch of Merlot. This classic cuvée from Ricasoli comes from vineyards located on the five most representative soils of Brolio. The fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks. This is preceded by 14 to 16 days of skin maceration, followed by a aging period of 21 months in barrels and large casks, with 3 to 6 months in bottle.

Umberto Cesari’s dream was to produce wines of exceptional quality. After developing expertise in France, he realized his passion by acquiring a 20-hectare vineyard in Emilia-Romagna.

The Liano Pinot Grigio Organic presents an enticing straw yellow color with greenish reflections. Its aromatic bouquet reveals a refined marriage of exotic fruits, apple, and delicate notes of white flowers. On the palate, it delivers on its aromatic promises with elegant acidity and a persistent flavor.

Galil Alon 2020

Galil Mountain Winery - Israel

The vineyards of Galil Mountain Winery stretch across the wild and mountainous region of Upper Galilee in northern Israel, scattered with wooded hillsides, valleys, rocky ridges, and streams. The winery, founded in 2000 and located in Kibbutz Yiron, operates in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature.

The Galil Alon 2020 is a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, aged for twelve months in French oak barrels. This generous wine presents notes of wild blackberry and raspberry on a backdrop of soft tannins. Aging potential: 5 to 7 years after the vintage.

Constitution Road Chardonnay 2022

This cooperative cellar was founded in 1941 by 28 families from the town of Robertson, South Africa. Set up in an old stone church, it employs a natural and meticulous approach, highlighting every detail from the soil to the vine to create exceptional wine.

Constitution Road, the flagship wine of Robertson Winery, reveals rich aromas of citrus, buttered bread, marmalade, and vanilla that express themselves intensely on the nose. On the palate, lively acidity contrasts with creamy texture, giving way to persistent notes of citrus and pear. On the finish, the wine reveals a hint of buttery caramel.

A wine full of freshness that highlights the unique qualities of Marlborough’s terroir; from fertile valleys to temperate climates where cool ocean breezes and generous sunshine create the perfect conditions for viticulture. This new wine crafted in Portugal, in the wine region of the Setúbal Peninsula, offers a round palate with soft tannins, a well-balanced structure, and a beautiful length. Crafted from a blend of three typical grape varieties of the Protected Geographical Indication, the Castelão, Aragonez, and Alicante Bouschet, this wine features notes of red fruits, fresh acidity, soft tannins, and a lightly wooded finish.

Finca Antigua - Spain

Aromas of blue flowers, such as violet, with notes of licorice and ink. Very complex, the oak is perfectly integrated, offering aromas of cloves, cedar, and spices. On the palate, the tannins are very fine, accompanied by a slight woody taste and a beautiful freshness.

About Sélections Mondiales des Vins

Sélections Mondiales des Vins is an international wine tasting competition, based in Montreal, a city in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is the largest wine competition in North America, and the only one under the patronage of VINOFED and the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV).

The 31st edition of the competition will take place from October 9th to 12th, 2024. The registration period will take place from May 1st to September 1st, 2024.
